Function groups refer to the AD (Administrator) or Assistant (AST) function group, which is determined for each recruitment competition organised by EPSO. Within function groups, there are different grades, which represent the level in the hierarchy for Assistants and Administrators alike.
This is also reflected in the salary of the EU official in that given level. Accordingly, there are AST1-AST11 levels, whereas for AD there is AD5-AD16, the latter being the level of a Director General.
