Two of the biggest EU selection competitions of recent years are now open: now is a chance to get a permanent EU job as an assistant or secretary in one of the European institutions.
There are two competitions open right now:
- assistants in the field of parliamentary work and
- secretaries and clerks for administrative/financial/secretarial support roles
Assistants (EPSO/AST/134/14) – next steps
The number of applications is 12 573.
Information on the next steps of the competition, such as the pre-selection tests (abstract, verbal and numercial reasoning exams) will be published this week in your EPSO account and on EPSO's blog.
There are a lot of candidates. The good news is that Online EU Training will help you be among the best. The bad news is that you’ll need to practice a lot (see our Infographic on what it takes to be a successful candidate).
You can practice verbal tests in your own language as Online EU Training offers these tests in 12 languages (Bulgarian, German, English, Spanish, French, Greek, Croatian, Hungarian, Italian, Dutch, Polish, Romanian), along with numerical and abstract reasoning tests in English and French. Check free and premium EU test packages here.
Secretaries and clerks (EPSO/AST-SC/03/15) – useful instructions
EPSO has prepared a useful document about the application process which you can read at this link.
Have questions? Here are a few that can help in your application. Need more info?
Watch our free webcast or read its transcript about the Secretary exams.
Could my professional experience possibly be taken into account in the context of the competition?
This is for the selection board to decide on the basis of the Notice of Competition. Reading the description of duties in the annexes of this Notice can give good indications whether you are eligible or not.
Will my diploma be accepted?
Again, this is also up to the Selection Board to decide. Important to note that there is no such thing as a comprehensive list of all possible diplomas so it’s not possible to tell you whether or not you’ll qualify if you have x or y diploma.
Can I modify the content of my application once it has been validated?
Nope, this is unfortunately not possible after that point. You can no longer edit your application, as EPSO immediately processes data once it is validated.
I have some difficulties with filling in the application form.
In that case EPSO has a fairly comprehensive online application manual. You will find there many tips to help you register your application.
Do I need to send EPSO my diplomas and other documents relating to my professional experience?
This is not necessary yet but at a later stage this will be required via your EPSO account.
Don’t forget that the application deadline is 10th February and please, please don’t leave your application to the last moment as servers can crash, volcanos can erupt or the latest Game of Thrones episode can be released just the day before the exam deadline!
It’s time to start practicing for the admission tests with our most comprehensive training material composed exclusively for the secretaries exam: EPSO SC1/SC2 -- Pre-selection All-In-One
Good luck with your application!
